The Victorian Training awards recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of students, teachers, training providers and employers who provide training. Now in its 63rd year, the awards continue to inspire all of those involved in the training and TAFE system.
This year we're proud to announce that our very own apprenticeship program has been nominated for an award. Partnering with Kangan Institute's Automotive centre of excellence(ACE), we've provided apprentices with the opportunity to train with Sheen products and equipment. Our program enables apprentices to become familiar with their tools before using them in a workshop.
While working at Sheen Panel Service, apprentices are given access to personal protective equipment, ongoing monitoring and support, accredited on and off-site training, a nationally recognised qualification on completion, and realistic future career options.
After completing their courses, apprentices, are equipped with the specific skills they need to do their jobs to a professional standard. Michael Mavrikakis, team leader of auto body repair training at Kangan Institute says, "This is a great initiative by the Sheen Panel Service to raise not only their training but the standards of the industry".
Each year the VTA receives numerous high-quality submissions that are put through a rigorous judging process. Finalists gain state-wide recognition from the vocational education and training (VET) sector, industry experts and peers. Being nominated for this prestigious award has been a proud and rewarding experience for all of us here at Sheen Panel Service.
Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 11 October 2017.
